This staircase was by far the most challenging one to date. Many projects that start out "a little" hard become "a lot" hard when you uncover certain details. For example this unit was on the top floor of a downtown building, which isn’t anything new. But, this one had no Freight elevator, or windows big enough to bring in the very long, very heavy pieces of steel. So we took to the fire escapes! Piece by heavy piece, floor by floor we carried the entire project up the buildings external fire ladders. The owner was very concerned to say the least about the safety aspects of us welding inside the home. But what many people don’t realize is that our new modern TIG welders are very unobtrusive. They give of no sparks, flames or fumes (only inert Argon Gas) As a testament to this, we have pictures of the owner’s cats sitting right next to us as we welded this large structure in place!
